The Commissioner for Insurance, Alhaji Mohammed Kari, has said that the commission will meet with state governors under the banner of the Nigeria’s Governors’ Forum on the implementation of compulsory insurance policy in the country.

He also urged the Kaduna State Government to support the commission in enforcing compulsory insurance policies in the state.

Kari spoke when he led a delegation of the commission on a courtesy visit to the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai.

He said, “We are here to seek the support of the Kaduna State Government in enforcing compliance with the compulsory insurance policies in the state as we intend to establish physical presence in Kaduna.

“We believe this collaboration will open up several opportunities that will be to the benefit of the state as well as the insurance industry when consummated.”

The commissioner said that NAICOM had developed guidelines that would enhance smooth collaboration and partnership with state governments.

He said that the benefits expected from the collaboration would include the provision of genuine insurance products to the government and people of Kaduna State; opening of another veritable source of Internally Generated Revenue for the state government; creation of employment for the citizenry.
